Gartenhotel Kloepferkeller - Eibiswald

This was our third visit to this delightful and popular family run hotel. Rooms are large and comfortable and there is a good buffet breakfast. The hotel restaurant offers lunch and dinner and makes use of local products such as pumpkin seed oil. We ate there on all three nights of our last stay and greatly enjoyed our meals. The owner is very friendly and speaks good English. The hotel has a large garden and a pool. Eibiswald is an attractive small town and a good base for exploring southern Styria.

We selected Eibiswald and the Hotel Kloepferkeller due to their location between Graz and our destination in Slovenia. We arrived in the afternoon and found a beautiful town and hotel. The room was clean and quiet with a nice view of the courtyard and garden beyond. Maybe most important was how well they put these two first time travelers to Austria at ease. Despite my A1 German they understood what we needed and made sure we were well taken care of. Being a family run hotel there were children about, which made the visit that much more enjoyable. Dinner was good with the waiter working to explain the dishes and suggest a good wine. The breakfast was as enjoyable as dinner, especially the ham. We will certainly work Eibiswald and Hotel Kloepferkeller into our next visit to Austria.

We were cycling through Stiria heading Slovenia towards Italy. Eibiswald has been planned for a night stop before climbing the radlpass.||It was a beautiful location. The accommodation really beyond our expectations and we treated ourselves with an excellent dinner in the back Garden. Well done!! Please keep this standard. Thank you.

We found this place accidentally nearly 10 years ago when we were looking for a hotel near to Graz which had a pool and was in a peaceful area. Eibiswald is a small town about 3km from the border of Slovenia. There is an abundance of activities locally including some wonderful walks and interesting trips to local beauty spots. In the State of Styria, which is renowned for good food and superb wine, we've found it the antidote to 21st century living. Other British tourists are rarely seen but English is spoken by most of the hotel staff. The former cellar is a dining room which has two massive barrels in which it is possible to dine. The food is well cooked and beautuifully presented by a staff which has seldom changed in all the years we've been going there.||With relatively cheap flights from Stansted to Graz, collection is possible by the hotel for the 45 minute drive to Eibiswald. There is, of course, a charge for this.

It was closed when we arrived but the friendly waiter made us some schnitzel. The main room is like something from a fairy tale.
