This restaurant was exactly what I needed after an 8-hour hike. The food was amazing — I had the grilled fish with boiled potatoes, which was both nourishing and absolutely delicious. The staff were wonderful; the lady who served me was very helpful and incredibly friendly. I had missed my last bus in the evening, and she even kindly offered me a lift to my hotel after her shift finished. In the end, I decided to walk the 1 hour 40 minutes back, which turned into a pleasant evening stroll along the stream (though my legs didn’t thank me at the time!).

Gasthof Gosausee is a place full of warmth, kindness, and great food. I highly recommend it and will definitely visit again to try more of their dishes.

The good: great location and the food is good!
The bad: One member of the staff was rude, ignored us as we asked for a table to sit (the place was pretty much empty and we only needed a table for 2). So we decided to quickly do take out since we were so hungry and leave.
That said, it’s conveniently located and there aren’t many other food options around so gets the job done if you are hungry.

After our first ever via ferrata we grabbed some lunch here before our boat ride! This is also where I drank my first ever beer and will forever be a great memory from our Austria trip. From ordering to paying it took less than 30 minutes and the food was delicious, the view was unbeatable.

A great little spot to stop off during our walk around the stunning Gosausee. The location is absolutely spot on — right next to the lake with easy access to parking, so it made perfect sense to pop in for dinner after a day of exploring the area.

The setting itself is beautiful. Sitting down with that mountain backdrop and the stillness of the lake nearby really adds to the whole experience. It feels like the kind of place where you can properly relax and soak in your surroundings after a good walk.

As for the food — a bit of a mixed bag, but still a solid meal overall. I had the chicken schnitzel, which was okay — nothing to shout about, quite plain, but filled the gap. My wife, on the other hand, hit the jackpot with the venison. It was full of flavour, beautifully cooked, and easily the standout dish of the evening.

We also treated ourselves to dessert — can’t quite remember the names of what we ordered, but whatever they were, they were very good. Rich, sweet, and exactly what you want after a long walk and a big main.

Service was friendly and efficient, and the whole place had that relaxed, alpine-lodge vibe. It’s the kind of spot you’d happily sit in for a while, just enjoying the view and a hot meal.

All in all, definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. We’d happily go back — and next time, I’m definitely ordering whatever my wife had.

Just to note - we didn't stay overnight at the hotel, only visited the restaurant, so I can't comment on the rooms. Hopefully next time we'll get the chance to stay and experience the full package!

If you are looking for a location to eat your food with a wonderful view, this is the right place. Although the restaurant is perfect but the enjoyment of the view doesn't allow you to concentrate on the food and its taste, so give the worst seats to the hungriest person.

Stopped here for lunch after viewing the lake. It's a really cosy restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere and lovely views of the lake. The food was delicious and served with great customer service. I recommend the venison!

They have both indoor and outdoor seating. They also have English menus with pictures of the food on which was handy.

Overpriced. Rude. Unwelcoming. We stopped by hoping to enjoy a drink with a view, despite the heavy rain. Unfortunately, one of the male hosts/waiters created a very unwelcoming atmosphere. He spoke down to us and only switched to English when making rude comments under his breath. It was an uncomfortable experience, and I wouldn’t recommend this place based on the service. There are certainly more welcoming spots nearby.
